The Greenville Region had three speakers at its September 28th meeting:
• The Honorable Merl F. Code who discussed the role of diversity in a law firm.
• Victoria Middleton from the ACLU who spoke about moving to Charleston to start a new chapter of the ACLU in South Carolina. She described the history of the organization and its plans for the future.
• Chris Hodge from the Greenville County Solicitors’ office who discussed the lawyers division of the United Way. She urged SCWLA members to donate to help the community.
The guest speaker for October will be April Goyer. She is speaker and a coach. Her specialty is helping professionals build thriving, profitable, and rewarding businesses. She has worked with numerous clients to grow their companies and empower their lives. She promises the group will leave the presentation:
• Inspired to take action;
• Strengthened from learning proven techniques to grow their business; and
• With more belief and confidence in themselves to reach their potential.
In January, Barbara Seymour is scheduled to do her annual 2-hour ethics CLE.
In addition to all of these wonderful speakers, the Greenville Region is starting a mentoring program. The goal is to bring the legal community closer together and to teach and support each other.
Finally, Jennifer Breaux and I have passed the torch to three wonderful women: Ashley Cuttino with the Ogletree firm, Anna Hamilton with Nelson Mullins, and Stephanie Lamb with Turner Padgett. These three women will serve as the Greenville County Regional Representatives.
